Darling Downs Wine Region

In the beginning of the 20th Century the Darling Downs region was a thriving wine producing area. Unfortunately wine producing in the area died off and it was not until recently did viticulture return to the area. The last few years have seen the rise of many boutique and large commercial wineries producing premium wines.

The Darling Downs is known for its fresh produce so many of the wineries are now investing in restaurants and cellar doors. Gold Coast Wine Region

Just a short 30 minute drive from the beach is the Gold Coast Hinterland wine region. The region encompasses wineries and vineyards in Mt Tamborine to Albert River and Canungra. Due to the ranges in altitude and climate a large variety of grapes have been planted in the area - Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, Merlot, Semillon, Shiraz, Verdelho and Viognier.
