The region is Australia's newest and definitely one to watch as it continues to develop premium grapes and to create superb wines. The Robe wine region reaches east along the Limestone Coast from Robe to Beachport. Situated on the coast the region experiences a maritime climate with cooling breezes from the ocean. The Woakwine Range shields the region from harsh southerly winds.


he key varieties grown in the region are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Shiraz and Viognier. The whites are refined with a full bodied structure and the reds noted for the intense, fruit character, spicy aromas and texture.


The region is famous for its seafood, especially crayfish. Visitors can enjoy superb seafood with their wine at any of the pleasant towns scattered along the coast. There is a range of accommodation styles available along the coast.
