Langhorne Creek Wineries and Vineyards

Langhorne Creek is located an hour south east of Adelaide and situated on the plains of Lake Alexandrina. Although a little-known region, it produces consistently high quality wines, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz being the most popular varieties. The region is sheltered beyond the hills of the Mt Lofty Ranges and receives cooling lake breezes during the grape growing season. Along with a moderate climate, the Langhorne Creek area benefits from rich soils that make it an ideal viticultural area.

While Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz make up 75% of the region’s wine production, Sangiovese, Malbec and Grenache varieties have also featured strongly in Langhorne Creek wines in recent years. Chardonnay is the most popularly grown of the white grape varieties, however Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc and Vermentino are rapidly gaining favour. Langhorne Creek features seven quality cellar doors with a number of them offering accompanying menus full of regional produce.
