Gundagai Wineries and Vineyards

Gundagai is one of Australia's newest wine regions and lies between Canberra and Wagga Wagga. The Snowy Mountains are the backdrop in the regions south-east and running west through the region is the Murrumbidgee River. Tumut and Gundagai are the regions main wine producing towns.

The main varieties grown in the region are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Shiraz. Semillon has emerged as the regions most distinctive wine. Harvest time begins in late February and continues through to mid March.

The Gundagai wine region holds the Dog on the Tuckerbox festival every year and is the perfect stopover between Sydney and Melbourne.
