Beechworth Wineries and Vineyards

The Beechworth wine region lies at the foothills of the Victorian alps and experiences a cool and frosty climate. This is Bushranger country however the vines were first planted to nourish the gold diggers of the mid 1800s. This history is most prominent in the town of Beechworth with its old main streets, Beechworth Bakery and the Beechworth Wine Centre and Antiques.

The sub-alpine climate of Beechworth produces high quality wines with a focus on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Shiraz all varieties which flourish in cool climates. Italian varietals, fortifieds and Gamay are also grown in the region.

The Beechworth Rail Trail is a former rail line which has been converted into a bike path. If you would like to see the countryside by bike you can enjoy the trail which runs from Bright to Wangaratta.
